The carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua L.) is a small evergreen tree, which can reach 15 m in height. The stem has smooth bark. The leaves are compound, paripinnate with 3-5 pairs of round, elliptic or elliptic-lanceolate coriaceous leaflets, 3-6 cm long, glossy on the upper page.
